Barringer Drive Initiative Celebrates Ribbon Cutting For New Senior Housing on West Boulevard

On July 12, 2024, we were proud to witness the ribbon-cutting of The Legacy at Carr Heights, a new 120-unit senior apartment community right here on West Boulevard.

This $31 million development—named after Black landowner Nathaniel Carr—is a powerful example of what’s possible through public-private collaboration. Thanks to partners like the Westside Community Land Trust, City of Charlotte, and local nonprofits, seniors 55+ now have access to safe, affordable housing with modern amenities.

As advocates for equitable development, the Barringer Drive Initiative celebrates this win for our elders and our neighborhood. The Legacy is more than housing—it’s a tribute to our history and a promise for a stronger, more inclusive future.
